Current Events
Kids without their devices. They can’t “imagine” how to play.
Another danger I have realized is that kids these days don’t care if anyone is smarter than they are. I feel like the danger is anyone smarter than you can and in the current climate likely will take advantage of you because you are not armed to protect yourself.

17-year-old dies ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ after suffering cardiac arrest: ‘No explanation as to why’
Jordan Brister, 17, was at school on Jan. 3 when he experienced sudden cardiac arrest. He was found inside one of the school’s bathrooms after gym class, his family told KSNV-TV. ^4f1dbc

Lisa Marie Presley also died suddenly, but this is more of a “normal” case. She had a rough life at times, maybe did some things that lead to having some heart damage. Still sort of unexpected.

US Debt
Treasury Secretary Warns Congress US Will Hit Debt Ceiling Within a Week ^71a8e3
If that deadline passes without Congressional action to raise the borrowing limit, the Treasury would have to take “certain extraordinary measures” to avoid a default on its obligations.
Measures that could be implemented by the Treasury Department include temporarily redeeming existing and suspending new investments of the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund as well as the Civil Service, Retirement, and Disability Fund. The Department would also suspend investment into the Government Securities Investment Fund of the Federal Employees Retirement System Thrift Savings Plan, she said.
[So, let me get this straight, we need to lift the debt ceiling so that the government can invest in its own employees pension/retirement funds?]
[and then it sounds threatening]
“Failure to meet the government’s obligations would cause irreparable harm to the U.S. economy, the livelihoods of all Americans, and global financial stability,”
[This makes sense though]
“If you’re going to ask for an increase in the limit, at some point in time, you’ve got to sit down and say why are we hitting the limit? Why are we maxing out the credit card?” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) told reporters this week.
[Oh, sucks to grow up, doesn’t it?]
By mid-year, Washington could have to stop borrowing altogether and rely solely on tax receipts to pay its bills. Because Treasury borrows close to 20 cents for every dollar it spends, Washington at that point would start missing payments owed to lenders, citizens, or both.
Organ Harvesting
China still at it, and why not?
But in his condolences, Zhu might have revealed a little more than he desired. The 87-year-old, as he noted, had “replaced many organs in his body” as he “tenaciously fought with illness,” to the point that the former official once joked that “many components are not his own anymore.” ^ac3724

A 2019 study published in the scientific journal BMC Medical Ethics concluded that the figures from official Chinese donation datasets conform “almost precisely to a mathematical formula,” a pattern not observed in any of 50 other countries analyzed—suggesting that the figures are fake.
An investigation by the London-based tribunal that year also found the regime culpable of killing prisoners of conscience, primarily adherents of the persecuted faith Falun Gong, and selling their organs for prodigious profits on an industrial scale—with no evidence showing that the practice has stopped.
China’s organ transplant industry has continued to grow even amid the pandemic. In 2021, the country performed 50 percent more lung transplant surgeries than the previous year, even when the world at large was seeing at least a 10 percent drop, Chen Jingyu, who oversees quality control on China’s lung transplantations, told state media in December.

Cali Floods
California Floods, Atmospheric River, and water conservation
We will have none of that here.
I can hardly wait for Californian’s and the world to see the drought that will follow this summer. Where did all that water go? Some will be surprised to see that it ran right off the state and into the ocean. ^b8747d
